Hi, friends, and welcome to my fiction world! My name is Nevena, and I’m a Greece-based novelist and short story writer. I have numerous short story awards and a published novel in my native language. Three years ago, I started writing actively in English, publishing on Medium, and gaining a huge following there. As I’m happy to reach a wider audience, I decided to create my little space on Substack as well.
My publication is, and will remain, entirely free. Every week, I will publish one short story with a magical twist. Expect a variety of genres that take you beyond the ordinary—magic realism, science fiction, fantasy, spiritual fiction. You’ll also get some horror and heavy literary fiction from time to time, for which you’ll receive a content warning so nobody gets a nasty surprise.

The stories I post fit in the category of ‘flash fiction,’ which means they are between three and twelve minutes to read. Short enough to be devoured in a work break or while you’re waiting in the grocery line. I promise they will thrill you and make your day a little more enchanting. They might even change you for the better, and isn’t that any writer’s main goal?
